While exercising seems simple, it’s not very difficult to make mistakes. There are dozens of exercises you can partake in, with different variations of each exercise. Mistakes can happen when there is a lack of proper technique or when you rush to simply complete the workout.

When you workout with mistakes, you can become injured during an exercise. At the very least, you can be counter-productive in your pursuit of losing weight. With that in mind, check out the following mistakes and how you can avoid them.

Even though Hollywood and marketing companies may have you believing you can lose 20 pounds overnight, it takes time – hard work and persistence.

Match your exercises with your experience

Everyone would love to run 2 miles when the begin their exercise regime, but to most it’s just not realistic. While you want to lose weight quickly, you’re not a superstar athlete – you won’t be able to bench press 200 pounds or run the New York marathon in the first week. Having too much exercise too soon will injure you or at the very least drain you mentally and physically, so remember to take it slow so you don’t become discouraged.

Improper Breathing

No, we’re not going to tell you to remember to breathe when you workout. However, most individuals when they workout tend to ignore proper breathing. When you work out, you need to breathe through the nose and out the mouth. Also, don’t breathe too shallow – you need strong, deep breaths.

Stay Hydrated

Drink water before, after, and during your exercises. Drink about 16 ounces of water (a regular sized bottle at the gas station cooler) for every hour you exercise.

Losing weight and working out is all about sticking to the basics from the day you start until the day you die. There are no easy ways to lose weight and to keep it off. You simply need to work out, eat healthy, and remember the most common thing in losing weight: common sense.
