Ways To Boost Your Metabolism

The rate of your metabolism dictates that amount of calories you burn when you perform an activity. There are many different factors that determine how or how your light your metabolism is. This includes heredity, age, gender, body size, nutritional intake, activity level, and overall health.

While your metabolism may be a normal rate during your younger years, it's common for your metabolism to slow down as you age. Because of this, exercise becomes a much more crucial part of your daily life as you enter into your thirties and forties.

Here are some ways to boost your metabolism:

Eat regularly. The iconic three hearty meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner is very unhealthy for your body. The calories taken in during larger meals are stored as fat, while smaller meals throughout the day give you boost of energy which you can slowly burn off.

Maintain a healthy diet. Not only the frequency in which you eat is important, but what you eat is equally as important. You need to eat an appropriate balanced diet full of protein and carbs. Also, eating whole foods as opposed to processed foods helps your body burn calories. This means that instead of having apple juice, eat an apple.

Lift weights. Mass will slowly replace stored fat. As you build this muscle mass, your metabolism will begin to increase.

Pickup your cardio. Cardiovascular activities increase your heart rate and allows you to breathe heavier. 20 or 30 minutes of cardio during the weekdays should do the trick. You don't need to run a marathon, just exercise in moderation -- brisk walking, swimming, treadmill, etc.

Boost your metabolism now and lose weight faster!
